Remarks: Is it that the sun shines more harshly these days or the railroads are cutting back on the quality of paint applied to new locomotives? BNSF GEVO 7697 isn't that old, but the orange livery is rapidly weathering toward pink!

Remarks: Hurry up and wait! A hot Z train cools its heels (reportedly for three hours) mere miles from the end of its cross-country run. Mt. Baker undoubtedly has seen this sort of thing before!

Remarks: Boeing aircraft assemblies that arrive by sea at the Port of Everett are off-loaded onto a barge, then moved across the harbor to this dock, recently opened near the bottom of BNSF's five-percent-plus spur to the assembly plant at Paine Field. Once today's quota of containers are all on the railcars, 2081 and 2080, specially modified for this service, will shove the whole batch up the hill.

Remarks: Unfortunate in its rather shabby appearance, Genesis 32 only represents the perennial state of poverty in which Amtrak has been kept for many years. Perhaps the more recent emphasis on more efficient transportation will bring about a change of priorities.
