A switch crew on their way to work the small yard at the SCL freight house just south of Union Station has just had a brief respite from the June afternoon heat as they rolled below Union's shed.

The daily train to Artesia is a few miles out of Montgomery's West End Yard as it curves away from US31. A few hundred feet ahead is the big bridge over the Alabama River.
