Shay 11 pulls the 3pm Whittaker train into Gum Curve, just south of the Lower Switchback. Today's afternoon train is sold out, as passengers enjoy the 2012 fall colors.

Making its third and final trip of the day, Shay 11 shoves the 3pm Whittaker train toward Lower Switchback, passing over Leatherbark Creek in full fall peak, outside of the Town of Cass.

With nearly 400 passengers on board, Western Maryland Big 6 and Shay 11 double head up the mountain near the town of Spruce. Colors above Whittaker are at their peak, but not for long, in an area ... (more)
