Remarks: No 261, no problem! Just make a "guest" engine a Milwaukee locomotive (hey, the colors are pretty close to the Hiawatha). NOT a photoshop job, just some fun in the shop when Doyle wasn't looking. That's the logo off of 261's tender.

Remarks: This isn't my shot--but an L&N p.r. slide from my collection. When the "General" was restored to service in early 1962, the L&N issued a duplicate slide set of four Agfachrome shots of the restored Civil War veteran. Miraculously, my set still exists, although the slides have faded badly to red, and with a number of blemishes. Using Photoshop, I managed to restore this one (or, at least I tried to restore it). This is in the paint shop at South Louisville, and the car next to it appears to be one of the 1946-built ACF cars for either the Humming Bird or Georgian coach streamliners.

Remarks: Conductor Clyde Robbins looks at the rear unit (of three) of his pusher as the southbound coal train backs up the middle leg of the Hagans Switchback. This view was taken at a clearing from the vantage point of the "Old CV" main---now abandoned.

Remarks: An ex U.S. military Whicomb rests outside of the former Detroit Arsenal Tank Plant. The old tank plant is now owned by a steel company (SET), unfortunatley this awesome little switcher might not be used for too much longer.

Remarks: In 1972 prior to merger with IC, three GM&O RS-1's (53, 1110, and 1103) were repowered by Railway Supply Co., Inc. of Montgomery, AL, using engines from retired GM&O E7's. The repowered units carried the GM&O numbers 1130-1132. A fourth unit, the ex-GM&O 54, was completed after the merger, and delivered as the ICG 1133. Except for the IC C636's, it was the only "Alco" to get orange and white paint.
