Looks like the yard crew is switching a little company fuel or such with two of my favorite EMDs.
The "field" is more full of units today and this unit may be set up to go out on a road freight.
Sitting in what was called "the field" ready for assignment is one of the best looking locomotives repainted into this scheme, a former Clinchfield unit. For an earlier photo see 44793... (more)
Trains arriving at Hamlet predominately use the old SAL main to go north to access the inbound tracks. Here an odd collection of stuff is bringing in an EB train.
Originally an L&N unit it already has its CSX number. At the wash rack.
Inbound freight with a leader from one of my favorite roads which has yet to be butchered up after the merger in December.
This former SCL unit was lucky enough to get one of my favorite modern paint jobs before CSX came along.

Used as a power car for a rail welding operation. I would guess from the radiator & single stack there is a smaller engine than the original in there. Photo by Michael Singer, from my collection.
Originally PC, then CR and by this time leased out on the SP. Photo by Tony Vanier, from my collection.
Profile shot of an ex-SP unit, complete with lights. Photo by unknown, from my collection.
Nice "adaptation" of an existing paint scheme I'd say.
The first real road switcher looking pretty.
Anticipating a merger, L&N numbered these in a new number series. I didn't work out.
Back when JC had a switcher this one is resting for the weekend.
