In May 1980 I happened to look out of the window of my northbound Corridor express and saw all these GG1's. The GG1 entered service in 1935 and a few kept running until 1983. Amazing machines.

Train 187 heads west (railroad south) into the summer evening. Due to platform reconstruction at Wilmington station, southbound trains used the normal northbound track for several months.
