Arriva Trains Wales operates an extensive network of frequent passenger services out of Cardiff. Here a service arrives at Cardiff Central in the Welsh capital.

By the sea! Great Western HST blasts through Dawlish. This railway station is exceptionally unique that it sits upon a sea wall and has a history of wave damage.

A Cross Country HST blasts through the station as Maryann gets her photos. Most of Cross Country's services here are with the Voyagers but they do throw a few HST's in the mix.

An HST rolls along the famous sea wall, past the old Coast Guards cottage. The HST125's have been largely replaced by the Class 800 /802 sets, outside of some 4 car HSTs for local SW services.

Waves lash at an HST. The waves can get considerably bigger here and in February 2014 took out part of the line. With the threat of storms and climate change a new & larger seawall was built.

GWR HST rolls along the sea wall. This section was destroyed by a storm in 2014 and rebuilt months later. There is talk reopening a route inland as this is the only line into the southwest.

A set of Pacers rolls along the repaired part of the sea wall. A storm in February 2014 destroyed this section. The pacers are set to be withdrawn.

HST! The only HST to wear the new green livery at the time, rolls past the rebuilt section of the sea wall. These have been retired and some made into 4 car short sets for southwest routes.
