Re 620 # 031 (Re 6/6 # 11631) "Dulliken" and Re 620 # 088 (Re 6/6 # 11688) "Linthal" (in special X-Rail paint scheme) of the SBB in multiple control, pull the 1378 ton steel train 49025 from the Swiss Steel in Emmenbrücke via Lucerne (switchback)-Rotkreuz-Arth Goldau-Gotthard mountain line-Ceneri Base Tunnel to Chiasso (-Lecco/Italy), through the Wattinger curve between Gurtnellen and Wassen. The two locomotives with a combined 21200 hp could theoretically pull 1600 tons over the mountain line, but the load is limited to a maximum of 1400 tons due to the load on the couplings. As the Gotthard Base Tunnel can still only be used on one lane for two thirds of its length since the derailment last August, all passenger trains and a few freight trains will continue to be diverted via the mountain route during the week.
