Thirteen-month-old Missouri Pacific GP15-1 1686 was photographed just six months after the MoPac was absorbed into the Union Pacific. While this locomotive is technically a UP possession in this photo, it has not yet received its new roadnumber – UP 1686. It would later be renumbered UP 686, then UPY 686. (North Little Rock, Arkansas – March 26, 1983) Click HERE to a photo by David Rohdenburg of this same locomotive as Cincinnati Eastern Railway 1686 in 2021. (Thanks, Bryan Malone, for the tip!)
