The times how they've changed... With the last rays of sun resting on the Appalachians, an eastbound unit grain train led by CSX SD40-2 No. 8315 struggles to maintain track speed on the beginning of its eastbound climb across Alleghany grade to Clifton Forge, Va., from Hinton, W.Va. The signals are gone, much of the code line has been removed, and SD40-2's don't lead trains on CSX much anymore. A lot has changed, but it's moments like this April 2013 perspective that piqued my interest in rail photography and made me appreciate the unique of West Virginia's rail landscape.
