| In the event of snowfall or strong winds, so-called Xk track plows are placed in front of individual scheduled passenger trains on the Rhaetian Railway's Bernina line. These can eject the snow between the two rails up to 5 cm below the top of the rail. For this purpose, a plow is lowered in the middle of the vehicle, which is remotely controlled by an operator in the driver's cab of the railcar. When driving over points and level crossings, this plow must be raised. Train 4621 from St.Moritz to Tirano with "Allegra" ABe 8/12 # 3503 shoves the track plow Xk # 9143 between Bernina Lagalb and Ospizio Bernina. |
