Remarks & Notes
PURCELL OK (September) 1977 — Santa Fe GP39-2 3627 is tied down awaiting a crew so the train can continue its journey south. Power short Santa Fe leased Canadian National and Chicago & Northwesters diesels at this time. EMD built the unit (s/n 74664-11) and delivered it in January 1975 in blue body with yellow warbonnet. At an unknown date between July 31 1984 and July 24 1986 It was renumbered SPSF 3127 as part of the proposed Southern Pacific-Santa Fe merger proposal. However, it retained its yellow warbonnet livery. After failure of the SPSF merger the unit was rebuilt in the Cleburne TX shops in January 1987 as a GP39-2u and was renumbered ATSF 3410. On September 22 1995 it was transferred to BNSF. On February 16 2000 it was renumbered BNSF 2779 and patched BNSF below the cab window. My photo.
