Before a Fairhaven transportation center was built south of downtown, Bellingham relied on these two former Great Northern structures for accessing GN, BN and later Amtrak passenger service. BN and Amtrak were still using both of these structures in early 1985. BN local and switching crews would start their days here and handle chores in the nearby yard as well as generate some locals. BN 2075, part of an SP&S order for GP38s, and among the first locos delivered to BN in green, waits for a crew to start switching chores for the day. 15 years old, it is still holding up quite well.
