On a gloomy February 2nd, 2022, Connecticut Southern train CSO-4, sporting classic Providence & Worcester Railroad GE locomotives for power, passes the old Spring Tower at the northern end of the MRS Line before crossing over to CSX territory in Springfield, Massachusetts. Spring Tower was constructed by the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad and controlled "Sweeney" and "Spring" Interlockings on the Springfield Line. The original roofing was removed & flattened in the 1960s to accommodate the I-91 overpass which carries north and southbound traffic directly overhead.
