1 meter gauge diesel cogwheel train "Salamander" # 11 of the Schneebergbahn is running up to the Hochschneeberg from Puchberg am Schneeberg. The "Salamander" trains, built in 1999 by Waagner-Biro, Hunslet-Barclay and Swoboda/carvatech, are push-pull trains with a 544 kW diesel cogwheel locomotive, an intermediate car and a cab car in front (when running up) with 119 seats in total. In front is the little "Baby Salamander" # 1 used for the transport of buggies etc., followed by the cab car # 31 and intermediate car # 21, shoved by locomotive # 11. The 9,8 kilometer long Schneebergbahn from Puchberg am Schneeberg on 577 meter a.s.l to the Hochschneeberg on 1796 meter a.s.l. with the Abt cogwheel system is owned and operated by the NÖSBB (Niederösterreichische Schneebergbahn Gmbh) and was opened in 1897.
