Remarks & Notes
The NKP 587 doubleheading with the NW 1218, entering Asheville after a thunderstorm. No. 587 was built by Baldwin in 1918 as the Lake Erie & Western No. 5541 and was renumbered after the NKP acquired the LE&W in 1923. The tender was built by Lima in 1934 and is nearly identical to the type used behind the road's Berkshires.
