Remarks & Notes

The solitude at Canyon Diablo is almost palpable - an entity that is at once overwhelming and eminently soothing. Only the rush of the wind disturbs the silence for awhile - until a thin silver line shows on the distant horizon, slowly making its way across the high desert. The dot of a headlight appears and soon the silence at Canyon Diablo is interrupted by a burst of power as the 4740 East charges across the 220 ft. deep chasm, its consist following in a hurried clatter. The cacophony is just as suddenly swallowed in the vastness of the landscape and silence returns to Canyon Diablo.
