There are just 47 miles left to go in BNSF train H-SDGBAR1-20’s 200ish-mile trip from the beaches of San Diego to high desert of Barstow. Today’s High Priority Merchandise train is powered by a quintet of modern GE diesels (ES44C4 6503, Dash 9-44CW 5420, ES44DC 7640 [marked as an ES45DC on its sill], AC44C4M 605 [a Dash 9-44CW converted to, essentially, an AC4400CW with A-1-A trucks] and ES44C4 8209) and, representing EMD, a lone GP60, BNSF 188 (ex-ATSF 4029). This train is about to meet westbound BNSF Z-LPKLAC9-19, which already has a yellow signal indication, which will shortly change to green (clear). BNSF’s double-track Cajon Sub sees a lot of action, and meets are common. (Hesperia, California – April 21, 2021)
