In 2021, the Rigibahnen (more precisely the Vitznau-Rigi-Bahn VRB) will celebrate 150 years of operation. The VRB was the very first cogwheel mountain railway in Europe, built by Niklaus Riggenbach. To celebrate this anniversary, the steamlocomotive H 1/2 # 7, built in 1873 by the SLM Winterthur as first locomotive of this factory, will operate on the Rigibahnen again, like on this photo from 2009. The steamtrain with the H 1/2 # 7 from 1873 with cars B # 5 from 1871 and car B # 11 "Bambus" from 1889 is running up the mountain between Rigi Staffel and Rigi Kulm on the track of the former Arth-Rgi-Bahn, while in the background an electric push-pull train with BDhe 4/4 # 21 and cab car Bt # 31 can be seen on the track of the former Vitznau-Rigi-Bahn.
