Upgrades to the Modern Mainline of Mid-America. Amtrak #59 (the southbound City of New Orleans) led by AMTK #4 charges through CN's new super defect detector. This structure is a consolidation of numerous types of defect detectors such as a high/wide detector and a dragging equipment detector. Sharp eyes will also note an RFID Antenna used to scan AEI codes on cars while enroute. Located just south of Memphis, this structure allows southbound trains to be checked for any load shifts (or any other defects) that may have occurred after leaving Harrison Yard and allows northbounds to be checked before entering populated Memphis areas. The 3D scanning systems on this structure "uses multiple sensors and algorithms to pinpoint axle position, car beginning and car end positions, car components such as safety appliances, hand brake wheels, car identifiers, load limit identification, reflectors, car body condition, structural gauge and high-wide load detection, car load profile, load securement conditions, load carry back detection, etc." The software even checks side walls condition, car ID and OCR, car load limit identification, reflector conditions, car structural gauge and profile, high-wide detection, car load profile, load securement, gauge reading, load profile, load carry back, foreign object detection, rocking and leaning cars, hand brake wheel, running boards (long and latitudinal), roof hatches, ladders and handholds, end platforms, and sill steps.
