My first visit to the Strasburg Rail Road was as a preschooler in the early 1960’s. I rode behind 0-6-0 31, Strasburg’s first steam locomotive in the “tourist era”. My next visit to Strasburg was as a college freshman, when my father invited a college buddy and me to ride with him and take the car for a few hours while he called on a customer in Coatesville, Pennsylvania. The venerable 31 was operating that day, seen here approaching Strasburg.
