Another railway line of Chile, which was partly destroyed by the heavy floods in august 2015, was the "Tocopilla" of the Sociedad Quimica y Minera de Chile from Tocopilla to Maria Elena (1067 mm gauge or 3 ft 6 in). The railway line was shut down in november 2015 and road traffic took over. In april 2012, General Electric boxcabs 289A # 607 and # 601 are pulling an empty train on the section above Quillagua, which goes through very rocky and rugged terrain in a grade of 4.0 %.
