Arguably one of, if not the most iconic photo locations along the entire Santa Fe system is Sullivan’s Curve in Cajon Pass, made known to the outside world by photographer Herb Sullivan in the 1940’s. During a 1984 trip to cover Tehachapi and Cajon, some friends and I made the pilgrimage to Sullivan’s curve, where we encountered an eastbound 66-car manifest powered by a solid string of GP35’s with one GP30 thrown in the mix.
