Tying on the power. Like many tourist railroads, the route of the Everett Railroad Santa's Express Trains does not have any turning facilities for the locomotive. Therefore, the trains run with the locomotive facing forward on the trip from Hollidaysburg to Brooks Mills, and after peforming a quick run-around, return to Hollidaysburg running tender first. Here, our engine crew completes the run-around at Hollidaysburg, and prepares to tie on to the consist for another run to Brookes Mill. Note the two hose connections adjacent to the coupler. The one on the right is obviously the brake connection, but the one on the left is for steam heat. The Everett Railroad's Santa's Express Trains all have steam heat in every coach, so the patrons can enjoy the experience even on the coldest of days.
