Connection. Seen here on Conrail's Bloodgood Branch is two different sized rails welded together. While it looks like more of crude method compared to compromize joints, it still gets the job done. The Bloodgood branch was once a pretty busy branch with a handfull of customers, but now sees no use. Customers dwindled through the years before the last customer stopped service in 2008. All thats left is rusty rails, rotting ties, and overgrowth.
