Remarks & Notes
Bethlehem’s Other Beam
Known primarily for its famous wide flange beam, Bethlehem also rolled rail and a lot of it too. With the purchase of Penn Steel Co. during WWI, the newly owned Steelton plant would roll many miles and sizes of rail under the Bethlehem moniker up until 2002. Today the plant continues to roll rail under the name of ArcleorMittal Steel and is one of three rail manufacturing mills in the Unites States; Evraz Rocky Mountain Steel and Steel Dynamics Inc are the other two.
