| San Luis & Rio Grande #18 leads the Alamosa - La Veta train off the east side of La Veta Pass after making a stop at the top of the pass (Fir) to deposit concert attendees at a Michael Martin Murphy concert (to be picked up later on our westbound trip back to Alamosa). The former Southern/NS "Lookout Mountain" which was made somewhat famous during the Southern/NS steam program has found a home here in Colorado on the Rio Grande Scenic and makes for a great ride behind #18. The IC-inspired paint scheme will be made complete soon as #18 is due to receive an IC steam paint job. This operation is certainly worth a visit for those who may be in the area. A classy operation ran by classy folks. Thanks to Ed, Matt, Earl and Kevin for the hospitality! |
