Cruising on up to track speed, Union Pacific's West Colton, CA to Salt Lake City, UT manifest takes a spin on former D&RGW rails at Pipemill, Utah. At left is the barren site of the Geneva Steel mill, shut down in 2001 and demolished. The cleanup of the land was a major job, however the property is ready for redevelopment. Something new has already arrived in the form of UTA's commuter rail line under construction (at right) slated to open for business in 2012. A station has already been planned for the area, although there really is no reason to stop quite yet.
