Passengers on the Southern Loops! It's hard to imagine the weather could have been any nicer for the North Carolina Transportation Museum's 2010 fall foliage excursions. This year's rare-milage trips were Spencer, NC to Roanoke, VA on Saturday, and Spencer to Asheville on Sunday via the Old Fort Loops. Here the train rounds the curve on top of High Fill, slowly descending through the heart of the Loops between Ridgecrest and Old Fort. The passengers in the private varnish are up front on the return trip, enjoying the spectacular scenery in style.
