"The Central"
MBTA F40PH-3C #1036 is the latest installment in their recent heritage program. 1036, a recently-rebuilt F40 wears the New York Central's "Lighting Stripe" scheme, which the MBTA claims heritage of by way of the Worcester Line. The modern-day Framingham/Worcester Line was originally built by the Boston and Albany Railroad, but later became part of the New York Central Railroad system. 1036 joins 1030, which wears the Boston and Maine "Minuteman" scheme, and 1071, which wears the New Haven's "McGinnis" scheme. Word on the street is that at least one more heritage unit is in the works, with 1072 planned to visit the MBTA's paint contractor soon.
