FWWR 2040 and sister 2039, the company's only two GP60 model locomotives, get their train up to track speed leaving the Cleburne Industrial area behind as they make their way towards Cresson with a string of empties in tow. The locomotives spent the night idling and belch out a plume of smoke in the crisp November morning air as the engineer notches them out of Restricted Limits into TWC.
The two are former EMD demonstrator locomotives, EMDX 5 and EMDX 6, purchased used by the Western in early 2024 but were not put into use until mid November of that year, as seen here on one their first weeks of revenue service.
