| A Fine-Looking Grade Crossing to Nowhere -
Three NJ Transit tracks cross Bridgewaters Ave. The double track is the active North Jersey Coast Line where an electric locomotive is shoving a train to its next stop at Little Silver. The near track is the Monmouth Running Track that once provided rail service to Monmouth Park racetrack. This track has been unused and out of service for a long time. NJ Transit is facing a severe multi-year financial crisis and yet they have resourced good money to give a handsome upgrade to this grade crossing for an unused running track that lies in disrepair. Perhaps that money would have been better spent fixing the paint on those unsightly, faded speed stripes.
