Former Penn Central E8A, AMTK 307, makes a light engine move in a maze of trackage south of Chicago's Union Station near the W. 18th St. bridge. Former Grand Trunk Western 4-6-2, owned by a private party, looks on from its storage location next to the other trackage. In the background, a lift bridge for the one time Pennsylvania RR. crosses the south branch of the Chicago River. 52 years later about the only things that are the same are the two bridges. This area is at the south end of Amtrak's large Chicago facilities. Even the buildings have changed.
