Truss Bridge over the Raritan River
Interstate Waste Services (IWS) in Bridgewater collects trash from the region and hauls it out of state by rail using an industrial lead that crosses this truss bridge over the Raritan River. This bridge, which is usually out of sight from the public, appears to be the old Reading Company Raritan River Bridge. This industrial lead crosses the river just north of the Lehigh Line (which can be seen in the distance) and connects with it near Manville Yard. The track mobile has just delivered a train of loaded garbage cars to the Lehigh Line and on its return the operator has made a quick stop on the bridge to enjoy the beautiful late summer weather. |
