Remarks & Notes
Metropolitans to Manhattan. Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) M3 car 9935 is the lead unit on Port Jefferson Branch train 1559, seen approaching Jamaica Station on its way to New York Penn Station. The 10-car train includes over a tenth of the remaining M3 fleet, which are intended to be replaced by the eventual M9A fleet. The 40-year-old Budd products are reserve units for the rail road, and are no longer an everyday sight on the Island.
