A few weeks ago now, Toronto got dumped with 56 centimeters of fresh snow, the largest one-time snow fall in Toronto's history, and a record for the city. Now, I love a good snow day, and what better way to be a part of a real-life snow globe than to pack my camera and head trackside? I found two stack trains on the CP Rail before I headed towards the lake, hoping to find somewhere I could shoot high speed intercity and commuter trains kicking up flakes. I decided on Danforth and I think I made the right choice, as here we see VIA no.53 from Gare Centrale heading west down the last few miles of the MX Kingston Sub for Union Station in the downtown core. Admittedly, this guy was moving very cautiously passed the platforms, likely going no more than 15 per hour. (Frankly, I'm shocked a charger set made it that far on it's own without taking a dump and stranding everyone for seven hours...)
