“Amtrak Dual Mode Inspection Over Saga”

On October 28th, 2025, Amtrak Inspection Extra Train 846 coasts over the Saugatuck River Railroad Bridge on the CTDOT/ Metro-North Railroad New Haven Line in Westport, Connecticut. The train was composed of Amtrak’s fleet of inspection cars, sandwiched between electric ACS-64 #609 and diesel GE P42DC #134 to allow unrestricted movement across the Northeast Corridor, and was tasked with inspecting most NEC routings over the course of just a few days.
