“Delivered via Bay Ridge, Destined for Sea Beach”
On October 8th, 2025, New York & Atlantic Railway RS-40, powered by EMD MP15ACs #156 and #151, pulls their inbound east through the Interchange Yard on the Bay Ridge Branch adjacent to the BMT (NYCT) Sea Beach Line in Brooklyn, NY. Behind the power on the head pin of the inbound is brand new Wabtec WAB6HYB (R255) #HL014, enroute to New York City Transit via the “Transit Siding” at Linden Yard.
The WAB6HYB (R255) is a 675hp hybrid battery locomotive built by Wabtec Corporation (formerly GE Transportation) in Erie, Pennsylvania. These locomotives are specially designed to meet all of New York City Transit’s subway standards and can operate on battery power for up to eight hours. They are used to power work trains throughout the system, including the Sea Beach Line seen adjacent to the freight train in this photo. HL014 is one of 25 units included in the initial order scheduled for delivery.
