The Bernina Line of the Rhaetian Railway has seen a sharp increase in passenger numbers over recent years. Of course, it is one of the most beautiful railway lines in existence. Over the Christmas and New Year holidays, the rush, especially from Italy (Tirano), is almost impossible to cope with. All RhB rolling stock that can be used on the Bernina line with its tight curve radii is then in service. In the morning in Tirano and in the afternoon in St. Moritz, long queues of passengers form, waiting for a ride. "Allegra" railcar ABe 8/12 # 3514 in the colorfull ancestor livery pulls the PE 970 BERNINA EXPRESS from Tirano to St.Moritz over the upper Ova da Bernina bridge between Ospizio Bernina and Bernina Lagalb. In the background is 2975 meter high Piz Alv.
