This view gives you a good idea what the Museum of the American Railroad is facing with the restoration of AT&SF PA-1 59L, built in 1948. After its time on the Santa Fe ended, the unit was sold as to the Delaware & Hudson, which had it rebuilt in 1975 as a PA-4. In the late 1970s it was sold to Mexico's Ferrocarriles Nacionales de Mexico (FNM) where it was involved in a rollover accident in 1981. Today, you can still see some evidence of D&H paint on the carbody. Despite outward appearances, the museum is making great progress rebuilding this rare unit!
