| Remarks & Notes |
| When the CP's Kansas City Sub gets past Moravia, the railroad really starts to become desolate as it twists and turns through the southern Iowa and northern Missouri countryside. Getting to places isn't easy and probably isn't photographed as much. I have in-laws that live near Mystic, so I explored this railroad more and more each year. Just outside Moravia is the area around Lake Rathbun. The railroad skirts around this area as they cross the Chariton River and Walnut Creek. Getting Rathbun Lake with the train is impossible without air, but some elevation shows just how big the lake is and how much of a tree tunnel it is too. 180 is in heavy dynamic as they work 40 miles south of Ottumwa. Nothing special, just different. |
