As the crew of TVRM No. 325 conducted a brake test, anticipation filled the air among the gathered fans awaiting the arrival of the star locomotive on this dreary morning; as tradition dictated, Southern Railway No. 630 would join her sister engine, No. 4501, as the “Southern Dynamic Duo” pull the Summerville Steam Special—a 100-mile round trip to Summerville, GA and back, but today’s run was bittersweet, marking the farewell trip for No. 630. The 121-year-old Ks-1 Class 2-8-0 boiler ticket is about to expired and it's for her to returned to the shop for a well-deserved overhaul.
