| Remarks & Notes |
| Not long after a badly needed repaint a pair of Aberdeen & Rockfish geeps head west for Raeford, NC. GP38 400 and GP7 205 were both delivered new to the railroad as single-unit orders. 400 is still in service and 205 was retired this year and is rumored as a donation for preservation. I can't think of a more worthy candidate for the North Carolina Transportation Museum, honestly. The A&R is one of very few U.S. shortlines that holds the distinction of always having been one, and continues under the same ownership to this day since its founding in 1892. The track arrangement in this photo no longer exists; The diamond has been removed and replaced with two turnouts. |
