Electric Mode at Marble Hill.
Metro-North Railroad SC42-DM Charger no. 302 is in charge of Hudson Line train 847, seen rounding the curve at Marble Hill, Manhattan. The locomotive is the second of the new Siemens locomotives to join the railroad's fleet, the total order of which will replace the P32AC-DM locomotives that currently operate most diesel on the railroad. Unlike their predecessors, the new dual-mode Chargers will operate in electric mode as far as Croton-Harmon.
With three lines radiating north out of Grand Central Terminal plus service to Port Jervis on the former Erie, Metro North covers a wide swatch of New York's northern suburbs with varying terrains.
