After running to San Diego the previous day so that the Railway’s guests could take in a Padres baseball game (they beat the Giants 5 to 3), the business car train operated from Thenard, down near the Port of Los Angeles, east to Barstow, and return. Essentially, from the Pacific Ocean into the Mojave Desert and back. A single locomotive BNSF ES44C4 8173, was the power for this 10-car train, consisting of business cars 53 Mt San Antonio, 60 Stevens Pass, 66 Cajon Pass, 52 Glorieta Pass. 45 Powder River, 40 Fox River, 10 Lake Superior, 29 Valley View, 31 Carl R Ice and 30 Glacier View. The train, just west of Prado Dam, is about 50 miles (80 km) away from wrapping up this (roughly) 344 mile (533.5 km) roundtrip. (Corona, California – May 1, 2025)
