Dumb Luck and a Long Lens...

As Metrolink Inland Empire-Orange County Line train 1858 departs the Santa Ana Regional Transportation Center heading from Oceanside to downtown San Bernardino, just north of the station it meets the southbound BNSF freight heading to San Diego from Barstow. On the BNSF's H-BARSDG, ES44C4 7118, Dash 9-44CW 5247 and SD70ACe 9146 are up front, with ES44DC 7818 and Dash 9-44CW 5324 on the rear. In just over 25 miles, this 84-car freight will be skirting the beach and the Pacific Ocean. (Santa Ana, California – October 12, 2025)
