The former SBB shunting locomotive E 3/3 # 8492, built in 1909 by SLM, had been work locomotive # 6 at the Perlen paper mill since 1961. Since 1978, it has served as a reserve locomotive and is known as the “Perlen Tiger” (Tiger is the colloquial name for this type of locomotive). During the Huttwil Steam Days, it pulls a special train on the Emmental Railway from Sumiswald-Grünen to Huttwil and can be seen on the 2.6% gradient between Gammenthal and Griesbach. The two passenger cars previously belonged to the Dampflok Muni association and are now in Huttwil with the VHE association.
