Remarks & Notes
The Last RDC from Boston On the morning of January 6th, 2024, the MBTA ran a work train to move two pieces of vintage equipment from a siding at FX Interlocking near the BET to the new dispatching center at Iron Horse Park in Billerica. Included in the consist was 1956-built B&M RDC car #6213 and 1958-built B&M "milk car" #1930. These two spent years in storage near the BET, but after an RDC stored alongside them caught on fire, the remaining equipment was evacuated. As both cars were placed on shop trucks, additional cars had to be used for braking, hence the flatcar and boxcar. The C-1 "buggy", a modified 1970's Canadian Pacific caboose is leading the nearly 20-mile shove. Rumor has it that these cars will be cosmetically restored for display at Iron Horse Park, hopefully along with an original F40.
