On the morning of September 22, 2025, CSX L017, towing the BNSF Ryder Cup OCS special, performs a brake test just east of the MP 12.2 Temporary Switch on the Hell Gate Line in the Bronx borough of New York City before proceeding to Fresh Pond Yard. The train was forced to detour from its original routing, traveling from CSX’s Selkirk Yard to Long Island via the Boston & Albany, Springfield Line, New Haven Line, Hell Gate Line, and Fremont Secondary. This unusual move was necessary due to lingering clearance concerns with Metro-North Railroad’s underrunning third rail, despite modifications made to much of the 14-car consist.
