Just after midnight on September 22, 2025, Amtrak train 847, towing the BNSF Ryder Cup OCS special, paused for a crew change at New Haven Union Station on the New Haven Line in Connecticut. The train was forced to detour from its original routing, traveling from CSX’s Selkirk Yard to Long Island via the Boston & Albany, Springfield Line, New Haven Line, Hell Gate Line, and Fremont Secondary. This unusual move was necessary due to lingering clearance concerns with Metro-North Railroad’s underrunning third rail, despite modifications made to much of the 14-car consist.
